It rained all night in Islamabad and winter has officially arrived

Winter has officially arrived in the Northern areas of Pakistan including Islamabad and Peshawar as rain downpoured with snowfall in areas all night last night.

Light to heavy rain showers was recorded in different northern parts including Kohat, Mardan, Malakand, Peshawar, and Islamabad with some light snowfall recorded in mountain districts such as Dir, Kalam, and Kohistan.

In some areas, large hailstones were also seen, especially in the Karak district which ended up damaging private property.

The combination of light and heavy rain and snowfall caused a sudden and surprising drop in temperatures last night causing people to shut off their fans in the capital of Pakistan, and forced them to take out warm clothes from stores.

People from the capital recorded various videos of rain that downpoured throughout the night and turned the weather pleasant.

According to the Met office of Pakistan, this fresh winter rain spell is expected to continue in the Northern areas for a couple of days to come. More rains and thunderstorms are expected especially in areas including Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Gujranwala, Lahore, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

At least two to three rain spells of moderate rain are also expected in October which will cause the temperature to drop further.
