Safe City Project is now fully operational in Lahore

The Safe City Project which is already successfully keeping Islamabad safe has now come to Lahore. The Punjab government launched the project today.

According to the Lahore Safe City Project, there are more than 8,000 cameras installed all over Lahore to look after the security of the citizens.

Reports claim that the project cost roughly Rs. 12 billion to launched. The authorities even claim it to be the biggest project of its nature in all of South Asia.

The Lahore Safe City Project is four times larger than the already operational Islamabad Safe City Project. The government now aims to bring the Safe City Project to other cities of Punjab including Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Multan, Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad.

Under this latest project, state of the art CCTV cameras has been installed all over the city. About 800 vehicles have also been installed with cameras that will be supporting the command and control center in surveillance of the city against any acts of organized crime, terror, and sabotage.

As time passes by, more areas of Lahore will be covered under the project. Currently, about 1,700 important places in the city are under the eye of the CCTV cameras of the Safe City Project.
