2018’s first snowfall was received in Quetta and Ziarat last night with 1mm of rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours. The temperature resulting from the snowfall in Quetta reached -5-degree centigrades.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, a westerly wave shallow in nature is still around the upper parts of Quetta and is likely to stay there for another 24-36 hours.
It is also predicted that mainly dry and cold weather is expected in many parts of the country, however, rain and thunderstorm with snowfall in the hilly areas is expected to continue especially in Hazara divisions, Malakand, Peshawar, Kohat, Rawalpindi, Mardan, Zhob, Quetta, Gujranwala, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir.
A brief shower was also seen in isolated parts of Islamabad last night with temperatures dropping even further in the capital city of Pakistan.
As with any nature of snowfall in Pakistan, several people shared their pictures and videos of it on Social Media. Even though temperatures have dropped to -5 degree centigrade in Quetta, people still found a reason to enjoy the snowfall.
