Saaed Ajmal bids farewell to all forms of cricket

Saeed Ajmal, one of the best offspinners from Pakistan has just announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. He will no longer appear in any international, national or league formats of cricket starting at the end of the ongoing National Twenty20 tournament.

Speaking to the press, Saeed Ajmal announced his retirement with the following statement:

I am quitting all forms of cricket after the current National Twenty20 tournament. It was a highly satisfying career in which I achieved whatever goals I set for myself and helped the team win matches.

A couple of years back, Ajmal’s bowling action was called for suspect action and he had to remodel his bowling action after which he was not able to make a successful comeback to international cricket. Ajmal played in only two international matches after changing his bowling action.

Ajmal will also not appear in the upcoming season 3 of Pakistan Super League.


Saeed Ajmal’s career highlights

Saaed Ajmal made his entry into International cricket at the age of 29 but he managed to quickly earn himself a name in cricket and became one of the best cricketers from Pakistan. He is credited as being the best spinners of the early 2010s. He has bagged as many as 178 wickets in 35 test matches.

In 113 games, he has taken 184 wickets with an average of 22.72 and an economy rate of 4.18.  In T20 cricket format, Ajmal has secured 85 wickets over an economy of 6.35.
