PTCL, Pakistan’s largest telecommunications, and internet company face thousands of complaints daily from all around the country for their often controversial poor service.
The company has formed a habit of ignoring its customer by just replying with an automated reply that ensures the customer their internet/phone issue will be dealt with immediately.
After that, they are notorious for taking days, weeks and even months to get something fixed.
But if you’re Ayesha Khalid, you know exactly how to deal with a company like this.
Ayesha Khalid, a common internet user like us posted a complaint on PTCL’s official page in hopes of getting her phone and internet finally fixed after going off at Eid. But her comment wasn’t really a request. It had a little threat in it that really caught the attention of PTCL and the entire internet around it.
I will rip your guts out by slithering my fingers into your throat. I am not letting this go. I will become a nightmare to your small children and scare them in their sleep if it doesnt get fixed within next 24 hrs.
Even with this complaint message, Ayesha got the very same automated reply that we are all used to so much from PTCL.
Inconvenience is sincerely regretted. Please inbox us landline number with area code so that the issue is diagnosed better and resolved. – PTCL
And of course, Ayesha wasn’t going to give up.
It is not regretted I am pretty sure. I am done complaining now, will contact GM of my area to have it looked. – Ayesha Khalid
It wasn’t until her complaint message got viral over the internet with lots of people sharing it that caused PTCL to take immediate action and her phone line was fixed.
Ayesha had to fight haters and trolls too
When her complaint message picked traction over Facebook, thousands of people left their comments on her complaint. Some of them supported Ayesha while others asked her simply to move on to some other service if PTCL wasn’t good enough.
Ayesha did have an answer for all of these people too!
Thank you everyone for your support. I see many people writing here and making complaints over the page now (which I think is awesome).
The issue was manifolded so I couldnt write it in detail before but here’s a little insight:
My internet and phone broke down on the 3rd day of Eid. Afterwards, I have been complaining on their given number (1218)..in between I tried calling my local line man but he said it was from back end..so i waited…so after around 96 hrs, the guy comes and says “yeh yahan se theek nai hona” and behaved rudely with my help and left. I called ptcl again, and their usual answer became very frustrating til then.
Any how, the issue is resolved. Im writing this using PTCL. The man from local exchange came last night and fixed it, however he still hasn’t fixed the lines. The area where I live is newly established and lines here break all the time. So, I am expecting another breakdown any way.
To all those who said why I am using PTCL and why did I even bother writing:
A. Our area doesnt cover any other internet except one or two more (which I am not comfortable using)
B. Though I wasnt expecting this response but I think we as a nation need to come out and raise our voices to fix these institutions in whatever capacity.
C. I only spoke for myself but now after seeing Every one going through the same issue, it breaks my heart. Most of us are paying our regular direct and indirect taxes and paying for these services additionally, we should not hold back when it comes to asking for services included.I see people in these institutions behaving carelessly with common men all the time, be school or hospital or any govt. Institution. And if we (common men) dont use our sane voices for our basic rights, we’ll always be stomped over by the people in authority.
So those of you who are using PTCL and have been paying their bills regularly, I encourage you to speak out.
An important message for us all
Ayesha may not have been the first one to bash PTCL for their services, but she did indeed leave an important message for us to speak out if we are paying bills regularly.
