A team of four students and three faculty members from The Center For Advanced Studies In Engineering (CASE), Islamabad secured a top position in Singapore Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Challenge (SAUVC) held in Singapore.
The team consisted of 4 students, namely Saad Malik, Haider Iftikhar, Mehrosh Fareed and Usman Abid. They were being supervised by 3 faculty members Adeel Muhammad, Dr. Mansoor Shaukat and Mr. Waqas-Ur-Rehman from the CASE Robotics Group.
The Singapore AUV Challenge is an international competition of autonomous underwater vehicles in Singapore where various countries show their skills in underwater robotics.
The platform is known worldwide for providing students of different universities in the world to learn about the design of robots that automatically perform assigned tasks and navigate underwater. This year’s event was hosted by the IEEE Singapore chapter at the Singapore Polytechnic.

SAUVC 2017 is special for Pakistanis because it is the first time any team from Pakistan has participated and secured a top position by performing well.
The Pakistani team went head on with 13 other teams from countries including USA, Russia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.
The Pakistani team was able to secure a top position along with Russia for Fastest completion of tasks and were the standout winners for Most liked photography competition. You can get more details about the competition from www.sauvc.org
