Your favorite social media platform may finally get the dislike button.
Facebook has already started testing the dislike button in select countries, but it isn’t placed where you’d expect it to be.
The social media giant is carrying out tests on the dislike button on their Facebook messenger app. The company recently implemented ‘Reactions’ to the messenger app allowing users to react instantly to messages by hitting the reactions button and selecting an emoji.
When you click on the new reactions feature, you get the following choices:
We’re always testing ways to make Messenger more fun and engaging. This is a small test where we enable people to share an emoji that best represents their feelings on a message.
Facebook has already confirmed the addition of the reactions feature to TechCrunch.
According to Facebook, the new feature is strictly in the test phase. Which means if the users enjoy it, they may consider releasing it worldwide.
The addition of a ‘dislike’ button became the number one user requested feature. But instead of giving them the dislike button, Facebook introduced the reactions feature. The company did not want to add a ‘dislike’ button because they wanted to keep negativity away from the news feed.
As far as the ‘dislike’ button in FB messenger goes, Facebook believes that it will serve the purpose of saying ‘no’ in a chat.
If the test phase is successful, the reactions feature should become available in Pakistan in the coming months. And who knows, the dislike button may even make its way to your newsfeed in the future?
